The Ceylon Electricity Employees Union says that a massive protest movement has been planned in front of the Ceylon Electricity Board’s head office today (03), tomorrow and the next day against the proposed bill for the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board.
Ranjan Jayalal, the general secretary of the union, says that the power minister is being forced to withdraw the proposed bill immediately.
He further stated that the Ceylon Electricity Board is going to be broken up into parts and sold to a number of companies, and that the government is going to submit this bill to the parliament and pass it after the parliament is convened in January.
