Postal workers began a trade union action to report sick leave starting at midnight on the 12th.
Chinthaka Bandara, the convenor of the United Postal Workers’ Union, stated that this professional action was initiated in protest against the non-hiring of employees.
In parallel, the University Trade Union Alliance announced that the strike by university non-academic employees will persist.
Dhammika S., Co-Chairman of the Joint Committee of University Trade Unions, explained that the decision followed unsuccessful discussions with the minister the previous day.
Additionally, Duminda Undugoda, chairman of the Road Development Authority’s Engineers Association, reported that their trade union action has entered its eighth day. He also noted that the Government Surveyors Association’s trade union action will continue today.
