According to the police, it has been observed during the investigations that the incident of shooting at the car of the former member of parliament Uddika Premaratne was done in a planned manner by the said member of parliament together with an assistant superintendent of police of the area.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Attorney Nihal Talduwa said that the investigations related to the shooting incident were carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department and the suspects related to the incident have been identified.
On September 17, 2023, it was reported that the car of former Anuradhapura District Member of Parliament, Uddika Premaratne, was shot at. The rear side glass of the car was damaged by the gunshots, but the MP was not injured.
