Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith says that the statement made by former President Maithripala Sirisena about how the money received after the Easter attack was spent is baseless.
Accordingly, he points out that he has all the statistics about it.
He pointed out that the people who were attacked needed help in order to receive medical treatment, specialist treatment, expenses of private hospitals, meeting the educational needs of orphaned children, etc.
The archbishop mentioned that about 500 million rupees have been collected, and he has the relevant correct data, which can be checked at any time, and out of that 500 million rupees, about 460 million has been distributed so far.
He further stated that the speech given by the former President Maithripala Sirisena was completely hateful and wrong, and it was his duty to inquire from the relevant parties as to what really happened before stating such a thing.
